Our Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the charity’s governing body and has overall responsibility for the charity. All of our Trustees are volunteers and bring with them their own unique professional and life experiences.

Sally Scott-Bryant, Chair

Sally runs her own business and brings to the Board skills that she’s gained at both strategic and operational levels in the telecommunications and financial sectors. Sally also volunteers at Rowcroft Hospice as a Complementary Therapist, and joined their Board of Trustees in January 2017. Sally was appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees in January 2020 and she is also Chair of Rowcroft Hospice since May 2019.

Helen Boyd

Helen Boyd

Helen is an accomplished senior business leader delivering services to the finance industry, and has a detailed knowledge of the commercial and not-for-profit sector. She runs her own business providing specialist writing, editing, research and marketing & communications services to large organisations, predominantly banks. Helen is also a Trustee of Rowcroft Hospice since June 2021.

Matthew Clark

Matthew is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society with over 25 years experience in financial services. Matthew owns an independent financial planning and discretionary investment management company in Exeter. Matthew brings to the Endowment skills and experience with regard to strategic planning, teamwork and business acumen. Matthew was appointed as Trustee in February 2023.

Dr Cathryn Edwards OBE

Honoured with an OBE for services to medicine in 2021, Cathryn is Registrar of the Royal College of Physicians – the first woman ever to hold this position – and she is also a consultant gastroenterologist in Torbay. The charity benefits from her skills in strategic planning, leadership and communications. Cathryn is also a Trustee of Rowcroft Hospice and was Chair of their Board of Trustees until May 2019.

Dirk Rohwedder

Dirk was appointed as Trustee in February 2023.

Suzanne Walker picture

Suzanne Walker

Suzanne is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, and holds the STEP Certificate in Financial Services and the PFS Pension Transfer Gold Standard and is an accredited member of the Society of Later Life Advisers SOLLA. Having joined the charity in late 2020, Suzanne also has experience working as an adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau and as a commodity trader and risk manager at Cargill, the world’s largest private company.

Whilst we’re not currently running an active trustee recruitment campaign, we’re always open to hearing from prospective candidates.

The Role

An opportunity to make a huge difference as a Member and Trustee of The Ella Rowcroft Endowment Trust (registered in England as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) ):

  • This is a fundraising board to build a substantial endowment legacy and it is the role of the Board to actively drive fundraising for the endowment offer.
  • As a key member of the Board, you will contribute to the strategic direction of the Trust, defining policies and outcomes, setting targets and measuring performance.
  • Your contribution to the Board will ensure good governance & effective and efficient leadership for the successful operation of the charity.

You should be committed to the success of The Ella Rowcroft Endowment Trust and be an enthusiastic advocate /ambassador for its growth into the future.

You will have:

  • A strong business acumen
  • A sound commercial and financial background
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great team player attributes
